Sitting at your desk during the holidays and wondering whether or not you can muster the courage to face another year in the same job? You start thinking, maybe it’s time to launch that web venture of yours with a few of your friends. If your New Years resolution is to at least test out the idea, then I recommend you check out LaunchRock.

What’s Craveworthy?

  • LaunchRock is a web app that does one thing and does it well: Help you set up a “launching soon” page in a matter of minutes. Why is this important for an aspiring web entrepreneur? The reason is one of the most crucial step in a startup’s early stages is validating that the idea is worthwhile or not before spending resources on design, development and marketing.
  • The site was launched out of Philadelphia’s Startup Weekend and just received $800k in seed funding last month.
  • Very simple to use and the site holds true to its promise, you’ll have a page up with a few clicks. Perfect for any startup that wants to collect e-mails if it has a newsletter component or is planning to rally initial users to test out its service.

What’s Cringeworthy?

  • It was in invite-only beta for what seemed like an eternity but it is finally open for anyone to try. For such a “meta” service, I was surprised to see that competitors are popping up like Unbounce.

CraveWorthy Challenge:

Put up a landing page, send it to your friends and see if they care enough about your idea to put down their e-mails. Now repeat this with people you don’t know through Twitter or by posting on blogs. Trust us, you’ll be in a much better position to move forward with the feedback gained.
